The Singers 2001
R&R Chair TTBB Choirs

I became familiar with this piece when Dr. Christopher Cock performed it with the 2000-2001 All-State Men’s Choir. This score will provide healthy challenges from the beginning as it is in the key of F# major and written for TTBB and piano. It is also sung in Italian with no English singing translation. There is a translation written in between stanzas to provide the poetic idea of the piece. The musical language varies from a sustained beginning to a staccato, rhythmic play on the words “nu pocopocorillo appassuliatella” (with a tiny, tiny bit of passion), ending with a homophonic recall of the first section. Vocal lines are fairly comfortable although the Tenor 1 sits a bit higher. This piece will challenge your singers to be musical, sensitive and passionate.
