A gem for every choral library, this imitative piece is also melodious and fun to sing. In four sections, the second and fourth being an identical Alleluia. The opening and Alleluia sections are in duple meter to be sung with “verve”. The contrasting Jubilate Deo section is in triple meter and is sung in a slower and more cantabile manner. This piece is more challenging because of its length, language, and it calls for a more advanced vocal technique, as well as secure inner rhythm. It can be taught in sections, however, and is well worth the effort.
