This choral fugue is a brilliant close to a program, whether it is performed with the Baroque instrumental ensemble or as one of those choral flourishes designed to bring an audience to its feet! It is harmonically predictable, and it is a fun introduction (or re-introduction) to the art of the fugue. It does require the physical stamina of “Alles was Odem hat”, but it still remains one of those small masterworks of the Baroque era. Choirs in many diverse situations could enrich their repertoire by the inclusion of this work.
