Alma Llanera, a joropo song by Pedro Gutierrez, is one of Venezuela’s most popular songs, a sort of second national anthem of the Venezuelan people. Angel Sauce’s lively arrangement has the singers imitate the instruments that are traditionally used to accompany joropo, the harp and the cuatro guitar. The edition includes cultural context and a translation and pronunciation guide. The arrangement is used widely by choirs throughout Latin America can also be expanded to include instruments, body motions, or joropo dance movements.
