A stunning piece of extraordinary beauty, this setting of Ave verum corpus is highly recommended for the able church choir. Set in d minor, the opening motive is a choral sigh on “Ave” over a bass D pedal tone. This motive comes back throughout. It is predominantly SATB, however there is an important section of divisi at the highpoint on page 5. Lau handles this with some similar writing in the soprano/tenor part as well as the alto/bass part.
Difficulty: medium-difficult.
