The American funk band Vulfpeck has developed an almost cult-like following since its founding in 2011. Among the numerous singles from their six albums, the song Back Pocket is a great example of the band’s unique synthesis of pop, soul, and funk. In this a cappella arrangement by MaryAnne Muglia Smith, the melody mostly alternates between the various treble parts that relate the light-hearted lyric about passing notes to a high school crush. The harmonies and rhythms are very accessible, making this a great choice for a beginning to intermediate contemporary a cappella ensemble.
