This jaunty piece is fun to sing. Buffalo Gals was a popular tune in minstrel shows. As the tune traveled west, it became a very popular square dance number. This arrangement was originally written for the younger male chorus of changing voices. Because it works well a cappella, the piano accompaniment is optional, allowing the director to find exactly the right key for the group.
