You guessed it! This is the 1978 hit song by the Styx. To capture the authenticity of the Styx version, you will need a tenor soloist with a clear, true head voice. At the conclusion of the solo, the tempo changes to a driving eighth note rock beat. For the singers to keep the energy in the vocals, they will need to accent the syncopations and exaggerate the consonants. The song contains traditional four-part harmony with simple, parallel chords that any choir should be able to learn quickly. With crisp, clean choreography, this song could be a showstopper. Ah … what ever happened to the good old 70’s pop hits?!
