Composition professor at the University of Southern California, Dr. Lauridsen follows his wonderful set of Italian madrigals, with a gorgeous set of chansons on texts of Rainier Maria Rilke. This setting is sure to be the number one hit of this set, “Les Chansons des Roses. ” A great way to introduce French, because the work is so beautiful, that your singers won’t mind the struggle with the language. Written as a folksong, this piece will teach wonderful vocal tone and great legato. Every part has a chance to shine. A great introduction to a literary style and idea.
