This is an old traditional hymn from Dalecarlia, very often performed at funerals in Sweden. This textless setting by Anders Ohrwall is similar to an arrangement for organ by Oskar Lindberg in 1926, and pairs the a cappella chorus with a solo soprano and flute. The music is simple and haunting, and would be appropriate as a contrast piece in both a sacred or secular program.
