Mac Huff has taken this song out of the archives to bring us an exciting swing number. This is a well known song from the not very familiar 1929 musical “Summer Stock.” The harmony is loaded with seventh, ninth and thirteenth chords in the vocals as well as the piano accompaniment. A good accompanist will be a benefit for this number. The driving, syncopated swing rhythms and harmonies will be a challenge for the younger choirs. The bridge section changes to straight eighth note rhythms in the accompaniment, with the voice parts singing “Hallelujah” as if they are a train whistle. The piece keeps building to the end, with the voice parts splitting into five part harmony. With an awesome back-up instrumental group, this number could be a showstopper!
