From Mendelssohn’s Oratorio St. Paul comes this lyrical and peaceful movement. Consider performing part of St. Paul or this piece alone with a chamber orchestra or in German. The lilting accompaniment provides momentum for the voices as they navigate long phrases in 6/8 and a text about peace. This number opens with a choral duet and is excellent for teaching phrasing, choral tone, and intonation. Rest assured, whether your ensemble is beginning or advanced, your singers will love the variety and depth of music making that is possible in How Lovely are the Messengers.
