Schmidt has woven the 13th century Benedictine chant, Adoro te devote beautifully within sound choral writing. The piece contains several moments of interesting twists in harmony that color transcendent moments of text, offering us a musical vision of the awe of God. There is minimal divisi with one crucial bar in the tenor and bass. You need a decent men’s section and tenors that can sing a high A forte. I highly recommend this piece. Difficulty: medium.
