I Attempt from Love’s Sickness to Fly is a nice arrangement of an old art song. Sherri Porterfield has arranged this in very comfortable ranges for both the sopranos and altos. It is in ABACA form with the A sections being exact repeats which makes it easy for the choir to memorize. The individual vocal parts are interesting with logical voice leading. This is a good teaching piece for many of the same reasons the solo song is. It serves as a good introduction to this genre of music, to short melismas, and to three-part treble singing.
