After a short keyboard introduction, this anthem begins with a tender melody in the alto (or unison women) over a simple music box accompaniment, and then grows in intensity as all voices enter with a glorious alleluia. Voice-leading is generally quite nice, but care will be needed in some of the more lush harmonies. There is a bit of sustained singing for the soprano that hovers at the top of the treble clef. The selection closes, as it opens, with a quotation from “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” in the accompaniment.
