This fun arrangement of a classic song is a great piece to use for a beginning TTBB choir! With a repeated ostinato pattern, attainable harmonies, and well-written parts, this arrangement will work well as a transition piece between early high school and mid-level high school TTBB ensembles.

If you program uses solfege to learn new music, this piece is a great way to implement those strategies as a large majority of the song is diatonic with few accidentals. Use of a rhythmic ostinato pattern elicits discussions about style and articulation in addition to encouraging a discussion about the use of syncopated and “straight” rhythms happening simultaneously. There is also a tremendous about of dynamic contrast throughout this work, which encourages students to demonstrate their understanding of those concepts as a way to bring excitement and energy to their performance.
