This piece is an arrangement of a delightful French folk song describing a situation where a nightingale is standing in for a girl who is seeking her lover. The French is easily learned, as it is repetitive, the arrangement provides a helpful pronunciation guide, and the children love the way it rolls off their tongues – “doubl’ca double!” Four part singing occurs only in the last phrase. The quick tempo, catchy percussion parts, and well written counter-melodies combine to make this selection a good choice for intermediate children’s choirs.
