I sang this in high school in the early 60’s and found that it is still published. If you like Brahms, this is a must for your chorus. A breathtaking melodic line accented with harmonies only Johannes Brahms could write. Very picturesque with long flowing lines and a powerfully moving text, this setting will move your audience to feel the loneliness of the poet as he searches for the vision of the red dawn whose rays bring light to the soul. Very moving. Very introspective. I give this five out of five stars.
