Rain Come Down is a personal text for Shawn Kirchner as his mother had been murdered the previous spring by a disturbed young man. He also related the words to the Columbine High School tragedy.

“Come, rain, come down, come, rain, come down,
Heaven’s tears of mercy, come a runnin’ down…
Come wash away this grief and pain, and let all hearts be clean
And bring the fairest flow’rs to meet the sorrows we have seen.”

This selection is tender but strong in its approach. It won Top Honors in the University of Oregon’s “Waging Peace Through Singing” choral composition contest in 2002.
