Another setting of the text by William Blake, this hauntingly beautiful piece takes a more contemplative look at this text. Mostly in 6/8 and 9/8, Fissinger does a wonderful job with the rhythms, making them naturally fit the flow of the text, which can be a bit of a problem for some singers as they get used to a more parlando style. The piano accompaniment (I did not have string players at my disposal) is challenging, but almost serves as an extra voice in many parts. This is a rather advanced composition, in my opinion, more appropriate for senior high school or college women, especially for its treatment of line and higher tessitura for the first soprano. Simply gorgeous.
