Songs of a Young Man is a four minute set of two contrasting pieces, “When I Was One-and-Twenty” and “Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now.” Both texts are poems by A.E. Housman. The first is a sprightly chorus in f minor that is, stylistically, a good alternative to a sea chanty. The second piece is great for working legato line and consistency of range.
Difficulty level: moderate.
