Tone Krohn’s arrangements of Norwegian folk music are quite extraordinary. They give treble choirs the opportunity to sing repertoire that is outside of the norm. Springdans fra Vestfold features interesting three-part harmonies and a catchy melody. This piece can be adapted for a variety of situations, it makes a perfect processional, can be quickly memorized, and can be combined with traditional dance steps or with percussion for an effective performance and an engaging rehearsal process. Tone has published versions of this piece with and without Norwegian text. This and several of her other folk song arrangements can be heard on Trio Mediaeval’s Grammy-nominated album “Folk Songs”.
