A short anthem about the St. Martin de Porres, also known as “Black Christ of the Andes.” De Porres was canonized in 1962, a Peruvian Dominican who is the patron saint of those who seek racial harmony. In Williams’ treatment, de Porres’ story is told in thick jazz harmonies. The majority of the work is a cappella with just a short piano interlude.
