Australian composer Lisa Young’s iconic polyrhythms are found here in this ‘builder’ piece. While the score may read as complex on the page, many of the rhythms are repetitive and layered, allowing for singers to learn each line together (either by sight reading or rote), build on internal rhythmic skills, and quickly memorize. With vocal and body clapping ostinato patterns pervading the piece, students can layer each new line as they learn, while leaving rehearsal satisfied with immediacy in hearing the intricacies of the piece come to life.
