A rollicking tune to be sung hardily, the 17th century text implores “forgetting old wrongs, with carols and songs to drive the cold winter away!” The men sing the opening verse, followed by the alto accompanied by STB on a strumming “droon, droon, droon.” The third verse is set with traditional four-part harmony and a showy instrumental solo (feature a great flutist or violinist). The final verse is mostly two-part, AB on melody, ST on a descant. All parts enjoy “feel good” ranges as well as a colorful text that tickles the tongue and lips. This piece makes your choir sound big.
