Find your disco ball and get ready for 70s costumes and dance moves for this one! Gloria Estefan made this song famous in 1975. The opening theme, “Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down” is set in sixteenth note rhythms, so the singers will need to spit out the diction. The second verse, set as a solo, also has quick sixteenth note rhythms that make the lyrics difficult to understand. As a whole, this piece is too repetitive for me. I would add an instrumental dance break to spice it up and sing one of the refrains a cappella to add variety. Don’t be afraid to change parts of the song to make it work the best for your group!
