“Down by the Sally Gardens” is one of the best melodies for teaching men how to sing across vocal ranges while exploring musical line. Rutter sets this Irish tune along with “The Miller of Dee,” a lilting tune that speaks of a miller’s love of his work and country. Much of these two short arrangements are unison, creating a wonderful teaching opportunity for directors. “The Miller” requires some high A’s from the tenor in the final verse.

Orchestration available for flute, clarinet, oboe, harp, 2 violins, viola, cello, bass
